Our very own Bisexual liaison, Br. Michael C. Oboza (ret) represented the Bisexual and Transgender aspect of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community at U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Chicago's Pride meeting 2014. Oboza spoke of his Gay then Bisexual comming out, being fired for not being gay enough and being assumed gay and not welcomed. Both experiences erasing his Bisexual birthright. Oboza shared, "Bisexual Erasure, a manifestation of biphobia exists."
It was nice to see the other presenter, a lesbian speaking for the L at G at meeting.
One of the best parts of the meeting's cohesion happened when someone asked, "Do you all in your LGBT community get along as most of us straights assume?" The explanation Oboza mentioned, "It is nice that we get a lesbian and bisexual perspective, especially when both groups "in different houses same street" are both often erased.
The lesbian mentioned the Transphobia. Oboza came out Transgender and agreed.
